Artist Pete McKee is about to launch a new collection of work in celebration of the nation’s favorite four legged friend.

The collection will be shown at Pete’s gallery ‘a Month of Sunday’s’ in Sheffield. This will be the first collection of new work created by Pete since the Gallery opened in June 2010.

Pete McKee said: “When I was young I would ask my parents on a weekly basis if I could have a dog, I even promised that I would take it out for walks! But sadly they would answer 'no' and eventually over the years I resigned myself to the fact that I would never own a dog. So the next best thing is to paint pictures of dogs. My imaginary four legged friends.

“'The Dogs Are Alright ' celebrates all types of dogs and the joy they bring to us dog lovers. Some of my most popular paintings are my dog pictures, so it is great to be able to devote an exhibition to the canine world."

Ten new paintings will feature in the exhibition as well a selection of limited edition prints, each signed and numbered by the artist. The title piece ‘The Dogs are Alright’ is a parody by Pete of the classic record by The Who ‘The kids are Alright’. Each member features in this painting see if you can guess who is who.

The exhibition runs from Saturday 7 May till Saturday 18 June, at a Month of Sundays Gallery, 365 Sharrow Vale Road, Sheffield, S11 8ZG. There is a special launch day on Saturday 7 May that is open to people and their dogs. Entry to the gallery is free and is open Tuesday - Saturday 10am till 5pm
